| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse bears a monogram of Rome (Roma) preceded by the initial letter Z, denoting Pope Zachary, rendered in a Carolingian-influenced ligature style. The monogram combines the letters R and M in an interlaced design, typical of early medieval papal mint marks used at Rome. The composition is centered on the flan with minimal surrounding field, and the device occupies the majority of the coin's surface. The execution is characteristic of the debased hammered silver coinage produced at the Rome mint during the mid-eighth century. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Zachary was the last Greek-speaking pope, and his tenure marked the definitive break between the papacy and the Byzantine exarchate of Ravenna — a rupture accelerated by the Lombard seizure of Ravenna in 751, just one year before his death. These fractional silver pieces were struck as the papacy began functioning as a genuinely independent temporal authority for the first time, issuing coinage in its own right rather than under imperial sanction.
