Reverse description The reverse displays a quartered coat of arms featuring the castles of Castile and the lions of León alternating in the four quarters, with a small central escutcheon bearing the Bourbon fleur-de-lis. The entire device is encircled by a wreath of laurel and olive branches, tied at the base, with a fine beaded border running along the coin's periphery. No legend is present on the reverse, the design relying entirely on the heraldic imagery to convey royal authority. The die-work is consistent with the simplified style adopted for these small copper fractional issues of New Spain. The field shows typical hammered surface characteristics with slight flatness on the high points of the relief.
