| Obverse description | Central ornate oval cartouche bearing the arms of Lucerne, rendered in baroque style with elaborate foliate and scrollwork surround. The fractional denomination 1/8 appears in a small shield or tablet at the base of the cartouche. The encircling legend reads MON · NOV · REIP · LVCERN · 1725 · 1/8, with the date distributed through the legend, denoting this as a new coin of the Republic of Lucerne. The overall design is characteristic of early 18th-century Swiss cantonal coinage, with fine engraving and well-defined relief. |
