Reverse description Central field features an ornate cross fleury with a lozenge-shaped central boss, the arms of the cross terminating in fleurs-de-lis, with a fleur-de-lis also surmounting the top arm. The cross is rendered in the elaborate late medieval French style typical of hammered silver coinage of this period. The surrounding circular legend in Latin reads SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI. BENEDICTVM (Blessed be the name of the Lord), separated by pellets. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular planchet and uneven strike associated with hammered production techniques of the mid-seventeenth century.
