Reverse description Central device consisting of the royal arms of France — a shield semé of fleurs-de-lis — surmounted by a royal crown with elaborate foliate decoration, all set within the open field. The denomination is indicated by the split numeral V and III flanking the shield, denoting one-eighth (1/8). The mint mark 'A' for Paris appears in the lower portion of the field. The circular legend is contained between a beaded inner border and a denticulated outer border, consistent with the piedfort's exceptional thickness and weight. The engraving displays the characteristic bold relief and refined detail of a presentation strike.
