| Reverse description | Central field displays multiple horizontal lines of bold Arabic script arranged within a beaded circular border. The legends identify the mint and repeat the royal titulature of Sultan Selim III, including the phrases 'Sultan of the Two Lands and Khagan of the Two Seas' (سلطان البرين وخاقان البحرين). The mint formula ضرب في الجزائر ('struck in Algiers') appears prominently at the top of the inscription. A decorative floral or foliate ornament occupies the lower portion of the field beneath the text, serving as a space-filler typical of Algerine hammered coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly broader than the die, consistent with hand-hammered production. |
