| Obverse description | Young draped bust of Queen Victoria facing left, as designed by William Wyon, with hair gathered and coiled at the nape in a classically restrained style. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair braiding and drapery at the truncation. The date appears in the lower exergue below the bust. The encircling legend reads VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR: REGINA F: D:, inscribed in raised Latin characters around the full periphery of the obverse field. |
