| Beschrijving voorzijde | Tripartite layout with a central vignette enclosed in an ornate cartouche bearing the municipal arms of Neusalz (Oder): a heraldic eagle above a sailing vessel on water, rendered in fine letterpress with guilloche border elements in olive and violet tones. The issuer inscription "Die städtische Sparkasse Neusalz (Oder)" appears in Gothic script across the upper central panel, flanked by circular denomination medallions reading "1,50" at upper left and right. | Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse is dominated by a large arched vignette executed in dark intaglio-style letterpress, portraying the elevation of Neusalz to city status by King Frederick the Great on 20 August 1743: a crowd of townspeople in period costume flanks a central group of dignitaries on a street, with figures kneeling and presenting offerings at either side. Denomination roundels "1,50" in violet appear at upper left and right within ornate foliate frames, and the issuer name "Stadt Neusalz (Oder)" is set in bold Gothic script across the top arch. A captioned text panel at the foot reads "Erhebung von Neusalz zur Stadt durch König Friedrich den Großen am 20. August 1743.", with a D.R.G.M. registration notice in small print below. |

Neusalz an der Oder — now Nowa Sól in western Poland — was a Silesian textile town whose municipal savings bank issued this fractional note during the Notgeld emergency of the early 1920s. The 1,50 Mark denomination is an awkward one, chosen specifically to fill gaps left by the chronic shortage of small coinage rather than to match any standard banking denomination.
Carl Flemming & Wiskott in Glogau handled a substantial share of Silesian Notgeld production, which makes precise attribution within their output difficult. The Glogau press itself is now Głogów, Poland — the geography of this note's entire story shifted west of the Oder-Neisse line after 1945.
