Obverse description Central field dominated by large Persian script arranged in two registers separated by a horizontal line, bearing the royal legend attributing the coin to the victorious Emperor Shah Jahan. The numeral '5' appears prominently within the upper inscription, denoting the fractional denomination of one-fifth rupee. Below the dividing line, a further portion of the legend gives the regnal year in Arabic numerals. The hammered flan displays characteristic irregular edges and uneven surfaces typical of early eighteenth-century Mughal-style coinage produced under Bombay Presidency authority.
