Part of the Bank of Greece's ongoing fable series, this issue draws on Aesop — a figure ancient sources variously place in Phrygia, Thrace, or Samos, with his historical existence debated since antiquity. The 1.5 euro denomination is a collector-only face value with no circulation role, a convention Greece has used across this series to keep issues legally monetized without flooding the economy with non-standard coins.
