Spain's "Fauna en Peligro" series, under which this piece falls, has drawn criticism from collectors for prioritizing exotic and visually striking animals over the Iberian species the country actually has a conservation mandate to protect. The ring-tailed lemur — endemic to Madagascar, not Spain — has no obvious connection to the issuing authority beyond its appeal on the secondary market.
