| 背面描述 | The large denomination inscription '1,5 euro' dominates the central field in bold raised lettering. A decorative olive branch with leaves and olives is depicted beneath the denomination. The legend 'de COTIGNAC' arcs along the lower periphery, flanked by a series of five-pointed stars. The validity period 'du 25·VII au 10·VIII·1997' arcs along the upper periphery. The names 'POMPANON' and 'PENIN' appear at lower left and lower right respectively, identifying the issuing authority and engraver. |

Cotignac, a village in the Var département, issued this local currency token during the 1990s wave of French municipal scrip — a largely forgotten episode in which small communes, tourist offices, and regional associations produced low-denomination exchange pieces intended for use at local merchants. These were not legal tender and carried no backing obligation from the Banque de France. Cotignac's issue is one of the more obscure examples, tied to the village's modest tourism economy rather than any monetary necessity.
