Obverse description Bare-headed, draped bust of Louis XV facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing hair tied with a ribbon at the nape, engraved in the Baroque court style by Joseph-Charles Röettiers. The king's effigy occupies the central field, with naturalistic portraiture characteristic of mid-18th-century French coinage. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, separated from the bust by a toothed inner border. The truncation of the bust is lightly ornamented, and a small mint-master's privy mark appears at the base.
