Obverse description At the centre of the triangular flan, the right-facing draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is set within a raised circular cartouche, after the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait. The circular legend surrounding the effigy reads ELIZABETH II ISLE OF MAN 2008. The field outside the cartouche is densely decorated with incuse hieroglyphic panels arranged along all three sides of the triangle, evoking an Egyptian temple wall. The transliterated name TUT appears above the cartouche in hieroglyphics, while ANKH to the lower left and AMUN to the lower right complete the pharaonic name across the base of the triangle in a combination of Latin letters and hieroglyphic symbols.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a scene derived from the gilded back panel of Tutankhamun's throne, showing the young pharaoh's queen — Ankhesenamun — anointing her seated husband with perfumed oil. The two figures are rendered in the elegant Amarna artistic style, with characteristic elongated proportions and richly detailed regalia including double crowns, broad collars, and floral sceptres. The background field is filled with hieroglyphic cartouches and decorative elements faithful to the original throne composition. The denomination 1/5 CROWN appears in the lower field in Latin lettering.
