Additional information

Gibraltar's late-1990s commemorative gold program produced a sprawling number of small-denomination issues, many tied loosely to wildlife or sporting themes with limited stated mintages and inconsistent secondary-market documentation. KM#790 sits in that crowded bracket. The .9999 fineness is notable — finer than the Krugerrand's .9167 and matching the Canadian Maple Leaf standard, a deliberate choice by the Royal Mint-struck Gibraltar issues to compete in the bullion-adjacent collector market of that period.
