Reverse description A highly detailed relief reproduction of the world's first adhesive postage stamp, the 1840 Penny Black, occupies the central field. The stamp design faithfully depicts the youthful left-facing portrait of Queen Victoria crowned, inscribed 'POSTAGE' at the top and 'ONE PENNY' at the base, with ornate engine-turned cross-hatched side panels and corner letters 'E' visible at lower left and right. The denomination '1/5 CROWN' appears in the lower legend of the brushed gold outer border, while 'PENNY BLACK' runs along the left arc and '150TH ANNIVERSARY' along the right arc, with '150th' positioned at the top between the two legends.
