| 背面描述 | Right-facing draped bust of King Charles I of the House of Stuart, depicted with long flowing hair and a lace collar, rendered in high relief in a style evoking the monarch's 17th-century portraiture. The surrounding legend reads · HOUSE OF STUART · KING CHARLES I · 1625-1649 · distributed around the upper and lateral periphery, with · 1/5 CROWN · inscribed along the lower border. The design is contained within a raised inner circle, separating the portrait from the peripheral legend. The composition commemorates Charles I's reign from 1625 until his execution in 1649. |

This piece belongs to Gibraltar's extended series of commemorative gold issues marking the 350th anniversary of the trial and execution of Charles I, who was beheaded outside the Banqueting House at Whitehall on 30 January 1649. The trial itself was constitutionally unprecedented — Charles refused to recognize the court's authority throughout, never entering a plea.
Gibraltar has long used commemorative coinage as a revenue instrument rather than circulating currency, and the .9999 fineness here targets bullion collectors specifically.
