| Reverse description | Central draped bust of Queen Victoria facing slightly left, crowned and wearing a veil and pearl necklace, as Empress of India, with the date 1876 to the left of the portrait. A genuine inlaid ruby is set above the crown as an ornamental gemstone. Flanking the central effigy are two Indian elephants with attendant figures, evoking the imperial Indian setting. The legend THE VICTORIAN AGE arcs along the upper rim, with EMPRESS OF INDIA inscribed on a rectangular cartouche across the lower portion of the bust, and the denomination 1/5 CROWN with the Pobjoy Mint mark PM appears along the lower rim. |
