| Aanvullende informatie |
Gibraltar's FIFA licensing deal in the early 2000s produced an almost bewildering volume of commemorative gold and silver issues — the 2002 Korea/Japan tournament alone generated dozens of distinct pieces from the territory. The 1/5 Crown denomination was Gibraltar's workhorse format for fractional gold at this period, sized to catch buyers seeking sub-sovereign gold at accessible price points.
FIFA's formal relationship with Gibraltar as a licensing partner predates Gibraltar's full FIFA membership, which wasn't granted until 2016 after years of political resistance from Spain.
