| Beschrijving voorzijde | Arms of Anhalt-Bernburg: a rampant bear passant to the left, crowned, depicted above a crenellated wall rendered in low relief. The bear, a traditional heraldic symbol of the House of Anhalt, is shown with raised forepaw and detailed fur texture. No peripheral legend appears; the design fills the field without inscription. |

Victor II Frederick ruled Anhalt-Bernburg for less than two years before his death in 1765, and his coinage reflects the fractured political reality of the German states during the Seven Years' War — a conflict that devastated Saxony and its neighbors, disrupted trade routes, and forced minor principalities into emergency small-denomination issues to keep local commerce moving. The 1⁄48 Thaler denomination was among the smallest practical silver-billon pieces in the north German monetary system, circulating alongside a chaotic mix of debased wartime coinage from larger neighbors.
