Obverse description Central field displays the quartered arms of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, consisting of a divided shield bearing the traditional Saxon barry with a diagonal bend and the Thuringian lion quarters, surmounted by a ducal crown. The shield is rendered in fine relief against a flat field. An abbreviated legend surrounding the shield reads 'S. W. E.' (Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach), appearing along the upper periphery within a beaded or reeded border.
