| 裏面の説明 | Four-line central inscription occupying the field, reading the denomination and issuing authority, with the moneyer's initials A.H. in the lowest line. A circular legend surrounds, incorporating the date 1676 and the words STADT GELDT, indicating city money. A small cross or rosette serves as a stop between legend elements. The overall design is characteristic of small German municipal coinage of the late seventeenth century. |

Stade was under Swedish occupation for much of the seventeenth century, administered as part of the Duchy of Bremen-Verden following Sweden's gains at the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. Municipal coinage of this kind — issued in the city's own name rather than the Swedish crown's — reflects the complicated layered sovereignty of the period, where occupying powers often left local civic minting rights intact for small-denomination currency. The 1676 date falls squarely within that Swedish administration, which would not end until the Great Northern War reshuffled the regional order decades later.
