| Obverse description | Central field bears a prominent Arabic religious inscription within a circular border, comprising multiple lines of calligraphic text enclosed by a raised inner circle adorned with foliate and crescent ornaments. The surrounding border legend contains additional Arabic inscriptions interspersed with stars and decorative leaf ornaments, the arrangement and details of which vary by variety. Three principal varieties exist: Y#3.1 omits 'Rabb al-Alamin' and places 'Sana' below the date; Y#3.2 includes 'Rabb al-Alamin' with 'Sana' above the date and features small 'Sana'a' alongside three leaf ornaments and a star in the border legend; Y#3.3 displays a large 'Sana'a' in the legend. Minor variations in legend arrangement, ornamental elements, crescent form, and circle size are known across the series. |
