Additional information

Antonio Priuli served as Doge from 1618 to 1623, a period dominated by Venice's costly war against the Habsburgs and Uskoks — the so-called Uskok War had technically concluded in 1618, but the financial strain on the Serenissima lingered well into his dogado. The quarter zecchino was a fractional denomination produced in limited quantities relative to the full zecchino, primarily for small-scale trade and almsgiving, which keeps surviving examples genuinely scarce.
