背面描述 The reverse displays a frontal elevation of a Khmer royal palace pavilion or prasat, rendered in precise architectural detail with tiered rooflines, arched central portal, decorative corner finials with flame or naga motifs, and a tall spire surmounted by a foliate crown at the apex. The structure is depicted symmetrically and fills the central field, conveying the grandeur of traditional Cambodian royal architecture. The design is surrounded by a continuous toothed border matching that of the obverse, with the field left plain above and below the structure.

附加信息

This pattern was struck in the context of King Ang Duong's effort to modernize Cambodian coinage after decades of reliance on Vietnamese-administered currency and the crude bullet-shaped tical pieces that preceded it. Ang Duong, who came to power under Siamese and Vietnamese suzerainty, pursued monetary reform partly as an assertion of royal authority — the 1848 patterns represent early exploratory strikes, likely produced or supervised with outside technical assistance, that never reached circulation.

White metal trial pieces of this type are rarely encountered; most known examples have been in institutional or major private collections since the nineteenth century.
