正面描述 Central device depicting a sacred Hamsa bird (the royal goose of Cambodian heraldry) rendered in high relief, shown in profile facing left with elaborate plumage and scaled body. The bird is surrounded by Khmer script characters arranged around the field, reading the royal name and denomination. The design is executed in a traditional Khmer artistic style with bold, deeply incised lines characteristic of mid-19th century Cambodian coinage.

附加信息

Cambodia's 1847 coinage under Norodom I was struck during a period of intense geopolitical pressure, with the kingdom caught between Siamese dominance to the west and Vietnamese encroachment to the east. Norodom had not yet formally assumed the throne — his coronation came in 1860 — making this issue one produced under a reign still contested in practice. French protectorate status would follow in 1863, after which indigenous Cambodian silver coinage of this type effectively ceased.
