Markus Sittikus von Hohenems secured the Archbishopric of Salzburg in 1612 through the influence of his uncle, Cardinal Altemps, and the backing of the Medici — not through any particular ecclesiastical distinction. His reign lasted only until 1619, making the 1612–1613 window for this issue extremely narrow. The Zöttl references 1188 and 1189 indicate two distinct die pairings documented for this type, both scarce given the abbreviated production window.
