| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle on a square klippe flan, the Virgin Mary is depicted enthroned facing, wearing a papal tiara and robes, holding the Christ Child on her left arm; below her figure, the archiepiscopal coat of arms of Salzburg — featuring the rampant lion — is displayed, flanked on either side by a crozier.
