| Obverse description | Central quartered shield of arms bearing the dynastic devices of Holstein-Schaumburg-Pinneberg, with a small inescutcheon at the centre, the whole flanked by elaborate foliate mantle and surmounted by three ornate crested helmets, the central helmet bearing a prominent fan-shaped crest. The composition is rendered in the baroque heraldic style typical of early seventeenth-century German coinage. The circular legend surrounds the entire armorial achievement, reading from the upper right. The coin is struck on an irregularly shaped flan characteristic of hammered production. |

| Reverse description | Crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed, with spread wings, the breast charged with a circular orb bearing a cross, as the arms of the Holy Roman Empire. A small imperial crown surmounts the two heads. The surrounding circular legend names Emperor Ferdinand II with his full imperial titles, with the date 1622 incorporated at the commencement of the legend at the top of the field. The design is deeply struck and bold, consistent with the official imperial eagle type mandated for fractional thalers of this period. |
