Obverse description Funerary inscription coin with no portrait. The obverse field is entirely filled with a multi-line Latin memorial legend recording the name and titles of John George III, Elector of Saxony, arranged in six lines of text across the flat field. The inscription names him as Duke of Saxony, Juliers, Cleves, and Berg, Count of the Mark, Ravensberg, and Westphalia, and records his death date of 12 September 1691. The design is aniconic, relying solely on the typographic arrangement of the funerary text, framed by a plain inner border and milled outer edge.
