Reverse description Central ornate oval cartouche bearing the crowned episcopal coat of arms of the Bishopric of Basel, flanked by decorative Baroque scrollwork and foliate ornaments. Below the shield, within a small laurel wreath, the denomination numeral '1/4' is displayed. The date 1717 appears at the top of the field, divided by the cartouche, with decorative crosses as stops. The circumferential Latin legend reads +1717+ EPIS·BASILEENS S·R·I·PRINCEPS 1/4, identifying the issuer as Prince of the Holy Roman Empire and Bishop of Basel. A beaded inner border encloses the design.
