Obverse description Central shield bearing the arms of Basel, rendered in an ornate Baroque cartouche with scrolling acanthus decoration, is surrounded by eight smaller oval shields each depicting the arms of associated cantons or allied territories. The surrounding shields are arranged symmetrically around the central device, separated by stylized foliate ornaments. The entire composition fills the field to the beaded border, with no legend present. The relief work displays fine Baroque craftsmanship consistent with early eighteenth-century Swiss die-engraving.

Reverse description A detailed bird's-eye panoramic view of the city of Basel, showing the Rhine River bisecting the composition with a prominent bridge at center, sailing vessels on the water, and the distinctive skyline of church spires and civic buildings rendered in fine relief across both banks. In the upper portion of the field, the Latin city name BASILEA appears within an ornate scrolling banner. At the lower center, the denomination numeral 1/4 is displayed within a shaped oval cartouche flanked by foliate sprays, all above the lower rim. The overall design is characteristic of Baroque city-view coinage of the Swiss Confederation.
