Reverse description The entire reverse field is occupied by a nine-line commemorative Latin inscription recording the key dates in the life and reign of George II: his birth at Hanover on 8 June 1660, his election as Electoral Prince on 4 February 1698, his introduction into the Electoral College on 7 September 1708, his accession as King of Great Britain on 12 August 1714, and his death at Osnabrück on 22 June 1727. The lettering is bold and well-spaced across the flat field, with a small decorative star at the foot of the coin. The inscription serves as a concise biographical epitaph in the tradition of German memorial coinage.
