Obverse description Central field displays the quartered coat of arms of the House of Wettin, featuring the crossed swords of the Electorate of Saxony and the Thuringian lion, surmounted by an elaborate crowned helmet with ornate foliate mantling extending to either side. The shield is rendered in fine relief with bold hatching to indicate tinctures. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery within a beaded border, identifying the duke by name and title.
