Obverse description Draped bust of Duke Frederick II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg facing right, wearing a long curled wig in the late Baroque fashion. The mint official's initials C·W· appear within a cartouche on the truncation of the bust. The encircling Latin legend reads FRIDER·II·D·G·DVX SAXO-GOTH·, separated by a stop. The coin is bordered by a fine toothed or milled rim, framing the effigy with a neat inner circle.
