Obverse description Draped bust of Duke Francis Josias of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld facing right, wearing a elaborately decorated cuirass with flowing lace cravat and long curled wig in the baroque manner. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the drapery and armour. The peripheral legend arcs around the upper portion of the coin in Latin, giving the duke's full titles and abbreviated style. Below the bust, a horizontal line separates the portrait from a three-line inscription in the lower field recording his birth date (25 September 1697) and death date (16 September 1764) in Roman numerals.
