| Reverse description | The reverse displays a panoramic view of the city of Frankfurt am Main in the lower portion of the field, rendered in fine relief with numerous church spires, towers, city walls, and the river Main with a bridge visible in the foreground. Above the cityscape, a crowned Imperial double-headed eagle is depicted with spread wings, holding a sword in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolising both martial and peaceful power. A partial arc legend SUBHAC TUTA (Safe Under This) appears in the upper field, referring to the protection of the Imperial eagle over the city. The composition effectively unites the civic identity of Frankfurt with its role as the seat of Imperial coronations. The entire design is enclosed within a raised inner border and milled rim. |
