Additional information

Issued under the joint reign of three Saxon Electors — Christian II, John George I, and August — this piece reflects the peculiar constitutional arrangement by which Saxony was governed following the death of Christian I in 1591, with August and John George serving as co-administrators during Christian II's minority. The three-ruler obverse format was a direct consequence of that regency structure, not a stylistic choice.

Dresden and Leipzig mints both produced coinage during this window. The Kohl reference distinguishes varieties by mintmaster mark.
