Obverse description Central field displays the elaborate quartered armorial shield of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, surmounted by a ducal crown flanked by two ornate crowned helmets with foliate mantling. The shield incorporates the heraldic devices of Brunswick (two lions passant), Lüneburg (a lion rampant), and other dynastic quarters including a running horse and floral charges. A circular Latin legend surrounds the arms reading D.G.CAROLVS.DVX.BRUNSVIC&LVN with the date appearing at the lower right of the field. The execution is in the baroque engraving tradition typical of early eighteenth-century German principality coinage.
