Reverse description The reverse bears a seven-line commemorative inscription in Latin capitals set within the field, recording the birth, election to Grand Master, and death of Charles Alexander of Lorraine. The text reads: NATVS / 12 DECEMBER 1712 / ELECTVS / IN SVPR. ADM. PRVSS. / ET M. MAG. O. T. / 3. MAY. 1761. / DEFVNCTVS / 4. IVLY. 1780. / R. I. P. A Teutonic cross pattée appears at the top of the inscription. The fineness denomination '40 FINE F. MARCK' appears along the lower edge of the field, indicating the silver standard.
