Reverse description Quartered heraldic shield of the Duchy of Lorraine, bearing the complex combined arms of Lorraine, Bar, Calabria, Jerusalem, and Guelders, surmounted by a ducal crown with elaborate foliate decoration. The date 1629 is divided by the crown at the top of the shield, with the numerals appearing on either side. The peripheral legend MONETA NOVA NANCEII CVS, meaning 'New coinage of Nancy', runs around the coin separated by a beaded inner border, with the legend beginning at upper right and reading clockwise.
