Obverse description Obverse field bearing multi-line Arabic-script legend in a square or rectangular arrangement, characteristic of Arakanese hammered silver coinage of the late sixteenth century. The inscription, rendered in a somewhat crude angular style typical of provincial mint production, occupies the majority of the flan. Dotted borders or pellets frame portions of the legend. The overall design reflects the hybrid Indo-Muslim epigraphic tradition prevalent in the Bengal-Arakan border region.
