正面描述 Blank convex field with no design or inscription, characteristic of the highly abstracted late Gaulish coinage tradition of the Ambiani. The surface is entirely uninscribed and devoid of iconographic motifs, representing the terminal stage of design degradation from the original Macedonian stater prototype. The flan is irregularly shaped and slightly domed, consistent with the hammered production technique of the period.

附加信息

The Ambiani occupied territory roughly corresponding to modern Picardy, and their coinage — including this quarter stater — circulated across a network of tribal exchange that predates Roman administrative control of the region by decades. Caesar's Gallic Wars, beginning in 58 BC, would within a generation render this entire monetary tradition obsolete as Roman coinage flooded the north.

The DT 247 classification places this piece within a well-documented Ambiani series, though die-link studies have shown considerable variation across the type, suggesting production at multiple locations or episodic striking rather than continuous mint output.
