| 正面描述 | Armored and crowned effigy of King Frederik III facing right, depicted with long flowing hair, rendered in a small bust format within a beaded inner circle. The royal portrait is characterized by a cuirassed shoulder treatment typical of mid-17th-century Scandinavian coinage. The encircling Latin legend commences beneath the bust and reads outward toward a beaded border ring at the rim. |

Frederik III inherited the Danish-Norwegian throne in 1648 under humiliating conditions, forced by the Council of the Realm to sign an accession charter that stripped the crown of most autonomous power. The speciedaler series issued in his name during these early years reflects a monarchy still financially dependent on noble cooperation — and the fractional pieces were struck partly to service war debts accumulated during the protracted conflicts with Sweden that defined his reign's first decade.
The "small bust" designation distinguishes this emission from later dies, a variety distinction codified across the Rønning and Brekke references under separate catalog numbers.
