Reverse description The quartered Royal Shield of Arms of King George IV occupies the centre of the field, richly detailed with the three passant guardant lions of England in the first and fourth quarters, the rampant lion of Scotland in the second quarter, and the harp of Ireland in the third quarter. The shield is surmounted by the Imperial State Crown and flanked by ornate scrollwork supporters. The Latin legend BRITANNIARUM REX FID : DEF : runs around the periphery, separated by a beaded inner border, faithfully reproducing the heraldic design from the original sovereign coinage of George IV.
