| Reverse description | Central devices of the Orb and Sceptre, principal regalia of the British coronation ceremony, rendered in fine detail against a decorative background motif inspired by the Rose Window of the south transept of Westminster Abbey. The circular tracery pattern radiates symmetrically from the centre, evoking the setting of the 1953 Coronation. Peripheral inscriptions record the commemorative dates and denomination, framing the design along the coin's rim. |

Alderney, the smallest of the inhabited Channel Islands with a population under 2,000, has issued commemorative coinage under a British Crown dependency arrangement since the 1990s — the pieces are legal tender on the island but exist almost entirely for the collector market. The 2018 Sapphire Coronation Jubilee series marked 65 years since Elizabeth II's coronation in June 1953, a reign that by that point had outlasted every British monarch in recorded history.
