Alderney, the smallest of the self-governing Channel Islands with a population under 2,000, issues commemorative coinage through a licensing arrangement with the Royal Mint and Pobjoy Mint — the pieces are legal tender on the island in theory, though none circulate. The Platinum Jubilee marked Elizabeth II's 70th year on the throne, a milestone no British monarch had previously reached. She died ten weeks after the official June 2022 jubilee celebrations.
