Aanvullende informatie

Alderney was the only British territory occupied by German forces during World War II, a five-year occupation that ended in May 1945 when the island was liberated as part of Operation Nestegg — a separate, largely forgotten operation running parallel to the broader European armistice. The island lost roughly a third of its population to wartime evacuation before the Germans even arrived.

The commemorative program issued under Alderney's name is administered by the Royal Mint on behalf of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, which has held issuing authority since 1949.
