Obverse description Central field displays the monogram or initials of the County of Cocconato, surmounted by a comital crown rendered in low relief. The design is characteristic of late sixteenth-century Piedmontese hammered billon coinage, with a crudely struck but clearly legible device occupying the centre of the flan. The surrounding field is largely plain, bounded by the irregular edge typical of hand-struck small denomination coinage. A legend composed of the repeated initial letters C, separated by floral rosette stops, runs around the periphery.
