| Beschrijving voorzijde | A large capital letter M occupies the central field of the coin. The letter is boldly rendered in a Gothic style characteristic of early modern municipal coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading + MONETA.METENSIS, identifying the coin as a municipal issue of the city of Metz. The overall style is typical of hammered billon coinage of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. |
